Sometimes, the user needs to import the issues with the custom fields, which are created from the third party tools. QMetry Import-Export utility does not support importing issues with the third party add-on custom fields. In that case, user may To acchive this, users can use Jira's Import features for importing the issues, however. However, it will not create Test Steps for the Test Cases. To import issues (Test Case with TestStep, Test Scenario, Test Run) using third-party add-on fields, users can use Jira's import after QMetry issues are imported through QMetry Import-Export Utility. Follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Step1: Import the Test Cases using QMetry Import-Export Utility, do not mention third-party custom fields in the excel file while import. (here is Here is the help document for importing the issues using Import-Export utility).
    • If these custom fields are mandatory then make it optional and begin the import. (To make the custom fields optional, user must have project admin privileges to make the custom fields optional from Jira settings. Here is Jira's help document for making a field optional.)

  • Step 2: Once done with importing the issues into Jira using QMetry import utility, export the imported issues through Jira export (CSV all fields). (Here is the help document for exporting issues from Jira Export).

  • Step 3: In the exported CSV file, pass the values for the third party custom fields columns (kindly do not modify any other details in the exported CSV file), save it and re-import it using Jira import. While importing issues using Jira import, map all the required fields including the third party add-on fields.
