Troubleshooting QAS Install Problems

The following articles cover the basics of troubleshooting the QMetry Automation Studio application problems. You can refer to this article to know about the pre-requisites/environment variables before installing QAS in your machine. The troubleshooting steps are mentioned below:

Configuring and installing Java in your machine for Windows:

  • Checking if the Java and the Java path are configured in your system:
    • To check if the Java is configured properly in your system, execute "java -version" and "javac -version" in your command prompt. The output should be similar to the screenshot shared below:

                

  • Installing and Configuring Java:
    • Installing:
      • Download the JDK 8 (64 bit) from this link.
      • Select the appropriate JDK software and click Download. The JDK software is installed on your computer, for example, at C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.x.xx. You can move the JDK software to another location if desired.

    • Configuring Java path:
      • Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
      • Click on Advanced system settings > Advanced, select Environment Variables, and then edit the following into respective variables, the Variables should point to where the JDK software is located :

  1. C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.x.xx
  2. C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.x.xx\bin

Supported Operating Systems platform:

  • QAS is supported on the following 64-bit Operation system 
    • MAC OS
    • Windows 7, 
    • Windows 8.0, 8.1,
    • Windows 10

(error) Warnings/Errors upon opening QAS:Java Runtime could not be located.

          

  • Solution: To fix this issue, install and configure the Java and Java Path as explained above.


    2. Error: Extension have been modified on disk Or unable to open Setup Project explorer/New Project.

        

  • Solution: Follow the steps given in the help document to fix this issue.


      3. License error: Unable to authenticate extension

         

  • Solutions
    • Verify that you have a working Internet connection.
    • Restarting the QAS application should fix this problem.
    • Entering correct details in the subscription details column will fix this issue (goto QMetry tab >> Subscription details).


4. Project detail not found. Please connect with QAS Support Team for more detail.

  • Solution: This warning is occurring due to the user opening a custom project in the QAS application. To use the Test recorder create a new project through QAS. 


5. Chrome driver and Chrome Browser outdated.

  • Solution: Update the chrome driver and the Chrome browser in your machine. Get the chrome driver from this link.


QAS Project extension status:

If the QAS project extension is disabled, user can't create a new project or the setup project explorer will not open when a user clicks on it. To fix this issue, user needs to enable the QAS Project extension, follow the steps mentioned in this help document for enabling the QAS project extension.
