Export and Import Projects

QAS allows users to export project data except execution results into a zip file. This zip file can then be imported into the same or different workspace with different names.

Export Projects

QAS allows users to export project data except execution results into a zip file. Users can export the project from the Project Settings > Preferences screen.

Use Case: Testers want to create different projects with similar test assets. Hence, they need the ability to export the existing project and import that project back into QAS but with a different Project Name.

Note: Test execution results will not be exported with other test data.

Steps:

1. Click on Project Settings at the left bottom and select the Preferences option.

 

2. Click on the Export button to export the project.

The project data gets exported into a zip file.

Import Projects

QAS allows users to quickly import the project data which was exported using the export functionality of QAS from Project Settings > Preferences screen. The project data got exported into a zip file. Users can then import the zip file of the project.

Use Case: Testers want to create different projects with similar test assets. Hence, they need the ability to import the exported project data back into QAS so that they do not need to create the same data manually.

Steps:

1. On the Login screen, click on the Import Project link.

2. On the import Project screen, enter Name and Description.

3. Select the zip file to import the project.

Note: The file size should maximum of 10 MB.

4. Click on the Save & Create button.

 

The project gets imported into QAS with test assets in Test Plan, Test Cycle, and Test Component modules. The Analytics module will not contain anything as the assets get imported without any test execution details.
