Scheduled Tasks and its functioning

Scheduled Tasks

In QMetry, when activities are performed in bulk the involved operations that are performed in the background known as scheduled jobs. The operations allow users to continue with their other activities while the job is running.

The logs of scheduled tasks are maintained on a user level, which means that a bulk operation or any of the activities mentioned below, when performed by one user will not be visible to any other user.

The scheduled task allows users to track the progress of the bulk operation that they have performed. The users can perform any of the below operations which will be running in the background and tracked on the Scheduled Task screen.

  • All bulk operations

  • Import - Issue, Test Case, Test Suite, Requirement

  • Export - Issue, Test Case, Test Suite, Requirement, Test execution

  • Project clone

  • Creating Test Executions from Automation API

When any of the above operations are initiated, the scheduled tasks icon color changes to Orange Color. As soon as the job is finished the color of the scheduled tasks icon will come to its original color.

Here are a few important key-pointers related to scheduled tasks:

  • The Super Admin of a QMetry instance can view all the scheduled tasks performed by all the users of that instance. Generally, the super admin of a QMetry instance is the one who first registers for it and is the first user created for that instance.

  • The error information of a failure of any bulk operation or automation activity can be fetched from the Scheduled Task screen.
