QMetry Licensing Details
QMetry offers flexible licensing options tailored to different organizational requirements including two primary models—Named License and Concurrent License. Organizations can select the model that best fits their team size, access needs, and operational flexibility.
Quick Overview
Feature | Named License | Concurrent License |
---|---|---|
Number of Active Users | Limited to purchased licenses | Can be higher than purchased licenses (1:3 ratio) |
Number of Simultaneous Logins | Same as purchased licenses | Same as purchased licenses |
License Assignment | Dedicated to specific users | Shared among users on first-come, first-served basis |
Flexibility | Less flexible, as each user has a fixed seat | More flexible, as seats are allocated dynamically |
Here’s a detailed overview of both the license types:
Named License
A Named License is assigned to a specific user and cannot be shared with others.
Key Characteristics
An organization can create only as many active users as the number of purchased licenses.
Each active user is allocated a dedicated license.
Only assigned users can log in to QMetry.
The system can have an unlimited number of inactive users, but the number of active users is restricted to the purchased licenses.
Example
If an organization purchases 20 Named Licenses of QMetry:
The organization can create up to 20 active users in QMetry.
Each active user is assigned a dedicated license.
Even if some users are inactive, the licenses remain occupied.
The system can have any number of inactive users, but only 20 active users can exist at a time, and only they can log in.
Concurrent License
A Concurrent License is a flexible model where a limited number of users can log in at a given time, but the total number of active users can be higher than the purchased license count.
Use Case: Suppose your organization has testing teams located in India and the US. In the Indian time zone, 20 testers work during the day, and when their shift ends, another 20 testers in the US start their workday. In such a scenario, the organization can purchase Concurrent Licenses. When the testers in India log out at the end of their shift, the licenses become available for the US testers, ensuring efficient license utilization across different time zones.
Key Characteristics
Generally, when you buy concurrent license, you get 1:3 ratio of active seats.
An organization can create more active users than the number of licenses purchased.
Only a limited number of users can log in simultaneously based on the purchased licenses.
Licenses are not assigned to specific users; they are shared on a first-come, first-served basis.
The system can have an unlimited number of inactive users, but only a limited number of active users.
Example
If an organization purchases 20 Concurrent Licenses of QMetry with a 1:3 ratio and an active user limit of 60:
The organization can create up to 60 active users in QMetry.
Out of 60 active users, only 20 can log in at any given time.
If 20 users are already logged in, the 21st user must wait until a seat becomes available.
Licenses are allocated dynamically, meaning that access is granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
There can be "N" number of inactive users but only 20 users can actively login simultaneously.
