How to Clone Test Cycle from multiple locations?

Users can create a clone of existing test cycles with their test steps. There are two ways a tester can clone Test Cycles as mentioned below:

  • From the Test Cycle grid view

  • From the Test Cycle detail view

Cloning a Test Cycle from grid view

  1. Hover over the Test Cycle you want to clone. Three icons become visible now: Execute, Clone and Delete.

  2. Click on the Clone icon to create a copy of the existing test cycle.

Cloning a Test Cycle from the Test Cycle detail view

  1. Navigate to the Test Cycle grid view and go to Test Cycle’s detail view.

  2. On the Test Cycle detail view ‘Cloning’ option is available at the top right corner.

  3. Click on the ‘Clone’ icon to create a copy.

Clone Test Cycle screen details - Current Project

  • Select Current Project to clone the test cycle in the same project.

  • Select a Target Folder. By default, it will clone to “All Test Cycles” if no selection is made.

  • Test Cycle Name: Enter the name of the cloned Test Cycle.

  • Select Test Cycle Status(es)

    • Clone Test Cycle with Not Executed Status: It will copy all the test cases within the test cycle and assign them a "Not Executed" status.

    • Clone Test Cycle with Actual Status: It will copy all test cases within the test cycle with their current execution status.

  • Defect Association: If selected, the option will copy the test cycle with defects associated with test cases.

  • Copy Attachments: If selected, the option will copy the Attachments entered for the test cases on the execution screen.

  • Copy Comments: If selected, the option will copy the Comments entered for the test cases on the execution screen.

  • Copy Execution Custom Field: If selected, the option will copy the custom field created from the execution screen.

  • Copy with actual result of test step: If selected, the option will copy the test cycle with the actual result of test steps under test cases.

  • Test Case Filters: Test Cases can be filtered based on multiple fields.

  • Click on the clone button to clone the test cycle in the same project.

 

Clone Test Cycle screen details - Other Project

  • Select Other Project to clone the test cycle in the same project.

  • Select a Target Project. Select the project where you want the cloned test cycle.

  • Select a Target Folder. Select the folder where you want the cloned test cycle. By default, it will clone to the “All Test Cycles” folder of the target project

  • Select a Target Fix Version. Select the fix version of the target project.

  • Select a Target Sprint. Select the sprint of the target project.

  • Test Cycle Name: Enter the name of the cloned Test Cycle.

  • Select Test Cycle Status(es)

    • Clone Test Cycle with Not Executed Status: It will copy all the test cases within the test cycle and assign them a "Not Executed" status.

    • Clone Test Cycle with Actual Status: It will copy all test cases within the test cycle with their current execution status.

  • Create Metadata: If selected, the option will create labels, components, status, priority & custom fields in the target project if those values do not exist in the target project.

  • Copy Attachments: If selected, the option will copy the Attachments entered for the test cases on the execution screen.

  • Copy Comments: If selected, the option will copy the Comments entered for the test cases on the execution screen.

  • Test Case Filters: Test Cases can be filtered based on multiple fields.

  • Click on the clone button to clone the test cycle in the other project.

 

Bulk Clone test Cycles from the test cycle grid view

Select the test cycles to be cloned in bulk. Click on the clone button

 

Clone Test Cycle screen details - Current Project

  • Select Current Project to clone the test cycle in the same project.

  • Select a Target Folder. By default, it will clone to “All Test Cycles” if no selection is made.

  • Clone Test Cycles with:

    • All Test Case Execution: It will copy all the test cases within the test cycle with all executions

    • Latest Execution: It will copy all the test cases within the test cycle with only the execution.

  • Select Test Cycle Status(es)

    • Clone Test Cycle with Not Executed Status: It will copy all the test cases within the test cycle and assign them a "Not Executed" status.

    • Clone Test Cycle with Actual Status: It will copy all test cases within the test cycle with their current execution status.

  • Select a Target Project. Select the project where you want the cloned test cycle.

  • Select a Target Folder. Select the folder where you want the cloned test cycle. By default, it will clone to the “All Test Cycles” folder of the target project

  • Select a Target Fix Version. Select the fix version of the target project.

  • Clone Test Cycles with:
