Personalize View

QMetry provides the ability to add/arrange/hide the columns on all test asset modules - Test Case, Test Cycle and Test Plan, that enables users to customize the view of test asset module. The customized view allows users to add the required fields on the grid that makes it easier for users to examine the test assets values directly from the grid view without navigating to the Test asset's detail page. The customized view can be saved. Once the view is updated it is preserved for the respective user. Let's see, how to create a customized view.

Manage Grid Columns

Customizing the columns allow you to organize your Test assets grid view by adding or arranging required columns. For example, you may want to inspect your Test assets with components of your application, or according to the assignee that will run them. Or you might want to view your Test Cycles along with execution results, priority or fix versions, etc.

Note: Summary, Priority, Status, Execution Result are the system default columns and they cannot be hidden or rearranged.

A user can view all the system defined as well as custom defined QMetry fields in a customized view. Refer ‘How to create custom fields?’.

Hide/Show/Rearrange Columns

The QMetry provides you with a list of fields you can select to display in the grid, depending on the Test asset’s tab (Test Case/Test Cycle/Test Plan) you have selected.

  • Adding a Column:

Step 1. Go to Column drop-down > check one of the fields to show as a column.

Step 2. Now, select 'Done'.

  • Hiding a Column:

Step 1. Go to Column drop-down > Uncheck one of the fields to hide.

Step 2. Now, select 'Done'.

  • Rearranging the Columns (Using Drag and Drop feature):

Step 1. Select a field from the list and drag and drop it to the required order.

Step 2. Click ‘Done’ and check the column display after making the changes.

Customize view using Filters:

Users can easily filter test assets by any system/custom fields on all module grids. It also helps users in carrying out bulk operations. For example, you may want to organize your Tests assets according to different components of your application or you might want to sort your issues by status, by priority or by fix versions:

Applying Filters:

You can apply filters from the Filter drop-down in the top-right corner.

For example, we will create a filter for the Test Cycle, displaying Test Cycle with 'Priority = Medium' and sub-filter displaying the Test Cycle type i,e whether Automated or Manual.

Clear Filters and Columns

Users can clear the applied filter and columns to the fields.

A. Clear Columns: Click on the Clear All button on the column drop-down or Uncheck the selected fields and click ‘Done’.

B. Clear Filter: Click on the Clear All button on the filter drop-down or Uncheck the selected filter and click ‘Done’. It will reset the view to default.

Apply Sorting in Grid View

Step 1. In the first image, the first column (Summary) is sorted in ascending order(on the basis of Issue Key).  There is an arrow pointing up to indicate the sort column and sort direction.

Step 2. In the second image, the third column {Status) is sorted in descending order.  Again, the arrow indicates the sort column and direction.

Note: Sorting can only be performed on below fields:
