Link Test Cases to a Test Cycle from Test Case Section

Once test cases are created, it is required to add these test cases to a test cycle (i.e. test run) for execution. On the basis of the execution status, Test Reports are generated.

You can -

A. Link Test Cases with a Test Cycle

B. Link Test Case Folder with a Test Cycle

 

You can link selected test cases of a particular folder/root folder with one of the existing test cycles.

1. Select test cases that you want to link to the existing test cycle. The count of selected test cases will be displayed above the grid.

Select All:

  • Select all records on the current page:

Clicking on the check box in the column header selects all the records on the current page only.

An alternate way is to open the check box drop-down and select Current Page.

  • Select all records across all pages:

Open the check box drop-down and select the Across All Pages option.

Note: Maximum 1000 test cases can be selected at a time.

The options for Bulk Operation start displaying on the screen on the selection of test case(s).

2. Open the Link With the drop-down menu and select Link with Test Cycle on it.

You can link all the test cases of a particular folder/root folder with one of the existing test cycles. Right-click on the folder and select Link with Test Cycle.

 

The Link with Test Cycle screen opens with a list of test cycles on it. You can search for test cases by their Key/Summary.

  • Link: You can link selected test cases with multiple test cycles one by one. Select the test cycle to which the test cases are to be linked and click on the Link button. The success message pops up with the clickable Issue Key on it to open the issue detail page. Once a test cycle is linked, the Link with Test Cycle screen still remains open to let you link another test cycle.

  • Link & Close: You can link the test cycle and close the popup. Select the test cycle to which the test cases are to be linked and click on the Link & Close button.

 

You can maximize the screen by clicking on the icon at the top right corner.

You can view the linked test cycle in the Executions tab of the test case.

The Executions tab displays the following details.

  • Test Cycle (Issue Key - Summary)

  • Environment

  • Build

  • Execution Result (Latest Execution)

  • Execution Assignee

  • Executed By

  • Executed On

  • Defects (with counts and links)

  • Attachments (clickable attachment icons - Blue if attachment exists, Black if the attachment does not exist). It opens a read-only attachment list. You can only download the attachments on click.

The test cycles linked with the test case are displayed with Execution Result and relevant details. If defects are linked while execution, the defect count is displayed under the Defects column.

To view the logged defects for the test case, click on the defect count. It opens the Link Defects screen.

To view the linked defects in Jira, click View in Issue Navigator. It enables testers to navigate to the Jira Issue search quickly.

Execute Test Cases from Test Case > Executions tab

Users can execute test cases that are linked to test cycles from Test Case > Executions tab. It allows users to execute test cases right from the test case page instead of going to the test execution screen to execute the test cases.
