How to attach Logs/Attachments on a Test Execution?

This article will guide you on attaching logs/attachments to a Test Execution.

Users can add attachments like log files captured during the test execution, or documents containing information about the execution, or screenshots taken at the time of the execution. These attachments can be added at a Test Case level as well as at a Test Case Step Level in the Test Execution.

QMetry supports attachments for Documents/Videos/Images/Files.

Note: Unsupported file extensions : (.exe, .dll, .sh, .msi, .deb, .bat)

Adding Attachments

To add attachments to Test Executions on a Test Case and Test Step Level.

  1. Go to Test Suites Module.

  2. Open the Test Suite details page by clicking on the Test Suite Entity Key.

  3. Go to Execution tab and open an execution.

  4. Click on the Paper Clip icon to link an attachment to a Test Case or Test Step.

In case you want to add an attachment on a Test Case step level. Click on the button to expand the Test Case Steps and add attachments by clicking the Paper Clip.

You’ll see an add attachments popup screen.

Add Attachment pop-up allows you to upload multiple files at a time. Select the file/files that need to be added and click on the Submit Button. You will also be able to add a description to the files that are being attached.

Add attachments in three ways:

  • Drag and Drop: Drag and drop the attachments into the specific area of drop documents.

  • Browse: Browse the file you want to add as an attachment and upload it by clicking on the Browse section. 

  • Paste (Ctrl + v): Add attachments to test assets by directly pasting them from the clipboard. This allows you to add screenshots without saving to the local machine. Only .png files can be pasted directly into the Add Attachment pop-up.

Notes: 

  • Maximum 10 files can be attached with a file size not more than 10 MB per file.

  • QMetry does not support these file extensions : (.exe; .dll; .sh; .msi; .deb; .bat)
