How to archive folders in QMetry?

Introduction

There can be numerous folders created in QMetry under specific project and test modules from time to time. User can archive folders and their underlying test assets which are no more required. Users with Delete rights can archive folders. The rights are assigned from Administration >  Roles.

Use Case 1: There could be many folders created under a specific test modules. If user have already finished working on the folders and now you do not need these folders and their underlying test assets to show anymore on the QMetry listings or on the grid pane then user can archive those Items.

Use Case 2: QMetry shows the list of all the folders created in test modules. If user finds it difficult to locate the required folder from the long list of Folders. As a solution to this, user opts for hiding unnecessary folders on the list by marking them as “archived”. Then the folder structure in test modules will not show archived folders anymore.

How to archive a folder

  1. To archive a folder, select the folder that you want to archive from folder structure
  2. Click the 'Archive' icon option from top right corner.
  3. The confirmation window pops-up. Click “Yes” to archive.
  4. Folders and their underlying test assets will get archived. It will disappears from the folder structure and grid list view.

View Archived folders

  1. To display the archived folders on the folder structure, select the 'Show Archived Items' check box from expanding the basic filter. It allows users to view archived folders and their underlying test assets for reviewing and rechecking the assets.
  2. Archived folders are shown in italic gray fonts. An archived folders cannot be edited. You have to un-archive the folder to edit it.
  3. To hide the archived folders, clear the Show Archived Items check box.

 

  

Un-archive archived folders


To bring the archived folders back to its original state, it should be un-archived.

  1. To Un-archive a folder, select the folder that you want to un-archive from folder structure.
  2. Click the 'Un-archive' icon option from top right corner.
  3. The confirmation window pops-up. Click “Yes” to un-archive.
  4. Folders and their underlying test assets will get un-archived and It will showing  in folder structure and grid list view.
