Introduction

Generally, the test executions are conducted against an environment/platform. Users can create a repository of environments under QMetry > Configurations. While execution of executing Test Cycles, the Environment list is populated from the Environment repository. 

QMetry has an inbuilt System Default environment as 'No Environment'.  By default, 'No Environment' is selected as the environment on Test Cycles.

  • If Enabled then the below permissions are required.

    • Configuration View

    • Configuration Modify

Users can copy Environments from one project to other projectprojects. The functionality allows users to use similar items in different QMetry projects without having to add these items individually.

  1. Select the items that you want to copy to other QMetry Projects and click Copy at the top right corner.

Deleting an Environment

User needs to Users should have 'Configuration modify' access to the project to delete an environment which that is now not in use. 

Below are the steps to delete Environment:

  1. Go to QMetry menu > Configuration > Select your Project Project. 

  2. Under Project Configuration select Environment. The Environment list is displayed on the screen.

  3. Click on the Delete icon of the Environment that you want to delete.

Note: When you try deleting an environment that is linked to any test execution then you will get the below warning message.

Searching an Environment

Consider that you need to create environment 'firefox'. Search the environment before adding it. It helps you avoid duplicate environment creation. So, we will be searching it using below steps.The Searching feature helps you locate the required environment easily even if it is a long list of environments on the screen. You can also search an environment before creating a new one to avoid duplication.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to QMetry > Configuration menu > Select Project.

  2. Click on Environment under Project Configuration.

  3. Click on the search icon to see the text box. Type the keyword in the text box and press the ENTER key.
