Create a New Project

You can customize your automation project with built-in project templates of QAS that support platforms. Most used platforms like Web, MobileWeb, Android, iOS, Web Services, and Windows (Desktop) are supported.

Once you install QMetry Service Manager, follow the steps mentioned below to set up a QAS Project. You can opt to create a project either with the pre-defined template or without a template.

Create Projects without Template

You can create a project from scratch with your preferred test assets.

Steps:

1. Once the QMetry Service Manager is started, open the QAS UI.

2. Authenticate the Hostname and Port on it.

Once the connection is successful, the Login screen opens next.

3. Provide the following details:

  • Workspace: This is the Workspace that you have defined as “Active” in the QMetry Service Manager > Workspace. The Workspace value remains disabled here.

  • Projects: Select the existing project from the drop-down. If you want to create a new project, click on the Create New Project button.

The Create New Project screen opens.

4. Provide the following details:

  • Name: Give a name to the Project.

  • Description: Enter the description regarding the project.

  • Select Platforms: You can select multiple platforms for your project. Supported platforms are Web, Web services, Mobile, and Windows desktop.

  • Create a new project from the existing template?: Skip this option to create a project without a template. The project will be created without any test assets in it.

5. Then Click on the Save & Confirm button. All the project files will be stored on your machine in the Workspace defined in the QMetry Service Manager.

Create Projects from Templates

QAS provides Project templates to use while creating a new project so that users can jump-start using QAS without making much effort on creating assets in the project. Users can explore the project which is preloaded with sample test data. They can opt for a template for the project from Web, Android Mobile, and API templates. Each of the project templates contains test assets corresponding to the platform.

Steps:

1. On the QAS Log In page, click on the Create New Project button.

The Create New Project screen opens.

Provide the following details:

  • Name: Give a name to the Project.

  • Description: Enter the description regarding the project.

  • Select Platforms: You can select multiple platforms for your project. Supported platforms are Web, Web services, Mobile, and Windows desktop.

  • Create a new project from the existing template?: Select the checkbox to create a project from the readily available template.

The Select Project Template drop-down gets enabled as soon as you select the checkbox.

You can select either of the templates:

  • Web Template

  • Android Mobile Template

  • API Template
