Link Issues/Bugs/Defects on Detail View Execution Screen

While test execution, you may come across issues/bugs. You can log the issues to test cases and test steps individually. You can either create a new issue or link an existing issue to the test case/test step. Issues added to steps are also reflected at the test case level.

Link Issues/Bugs/Defects to a Test Case

You can link issues/bugs to test cases/test steps while executing the test case.

Steps

1. Open the Detail View of the execution screen. If a bug is already linked to the test case or steps under it, the count will be displayed adjacent to the Bug icon at the top.

2. Click on the Bug icon for the test case. The Issues tab opens below.

You can either add an existing bug or create a new bug to link to the test case.

1. Click on the Available Issues button.

Already existing issues are displayed as per the Project selected. You can also link cross project issues.

If an external tracker is linked with the project, the available issues are displayed as per the selection for external tracker instance and project.

2. Select the issues you want to link with the test case and click on the Link buttons.

You can also -

(A) select bugs logged in other projects. Open the project drop-down and select other projects from which you want to add the bug.

(B) apply the Basic filter to search bugs (In case of external tracker, the Type filter displays Issue Type in accordance with the Issue Type mapped for Issues module in Project Settings.)

 

B. Create Issues

Steps

Click on the Create Issue button.

If an external tracker is linked with the project, the available issues are displayed as per the selection for external tracker instance and project.

In case of external tracker, the Issue Types drop-down displays Issue Type in accordance with the Issue Type mapped for Issues module in Project Settings.

The issue created from the Test Execution Screen will be directly linked to the test case.

 

 

Link Issues/Bugs/Defects to Test Step

Apart from linking issues to the test case, you can also link issues to test steps to trace the bug related to step level.

1. Open the Steps tab.

2. Click on the bug icon at the right.

The Issues screen opens. Follow the same steps described above to create a new bug or add existing bugs.

You can resize columns, apply sorting on columns (other than multi-lookup lists field type), and show/hide columns using the Arrange Columns option.

In the case of linking issues from Jira:

  • The Advance Filter option is also available for the custom fields that are configured/mapped for the Issue module in Projects > Integration.

  • The Arrange Columns option will show all the system and custom fields that are configured/mapped for the Issue module in Projects > Integration.

The color of the Bug icon gets changes(Red) as soon as you associate a bug to it.

Unlink Issues/Bugs/Defects

Issues are linked with the test case and test step from the execution screen. You can delete issues in accordance with their level - test case/test step.

You can unlink only the test case execution level bugs from this screen.

  • Select the issue which you want to unlink.

  • Click on the Unlink button at the bottom to remove the association of the bug with the test case.

Steps to unlink issues that are linked to test steps.

1. Open the Steps tab.

2. Click on the Bug icon. It also displays the count of issues linked to that particular step.

The Issues screen opens.

3. Select the issues you want to unlink and click on the Unlink button.
