Create Test Plans

Users should have the “Test Plan Create” permission for the project to be able to create a test plan in the QMetry Test Management for Jira app.

Test Plan Grid

Users can show/hide all field columns except Sequence No, Key, and Summary in the test plan module grid. Columns selected on the list will appear on the test plan screen. Columns not selected/deselected will remain hidden on the screen. To return to the default view of the Test Plan list view, open the Columns drop-down and select Reset to Default.

Note: A maximum of 40 columns can be selected at a time to display.

Steps to Create a Test Plan

You can create a new Test Plan and directly associate it with the folder.

1. Select a folder on the tree at the left and click on the New button at the right. The new Test Plan will be associated with the folder you selected on the tree.

There are three tabs: Details, Test Cycle, and Attachments.

2. Enter Test Plan Details.

Permissions and configurations required for tagging users and receiving email when tagged.

1. Required Jira Permissions for tagging users:

a. Jira Settings > Global Permissions > Browse users and group: The user and “atlassian-addons-admin” groups should be part of this permission to be able to tag users.

b. Project Settings > Permissions

i. Assignable user: The users having this permission can be tagged.

ii. Assign Issues: The users having this permission can tag other users.

2. Required configurations to receive email notifications from QMetry:

Set the email visibility to ‘Anyone’ for receiving email notifications on getting tagged. For this configuration, go to Profile and Settings > Account Settings > Profile and Visibility > Contact > Set the email visibility to ‘Anyone’. The user’s email address will be visible to QMetry once the configuration is set to ‘Anyone’.

Create another:
Create another checkbox that allows users to keep creating one Test Plan after another without having to click on the "Create" button again and again. It is helpful when you have to create a series of Test Plans.

While creating another entity, values of some fields populate as these field values get preserved.
