Plan Test Case in Story

You can link a single test case to story from test case detail page. You can link multiple test cases to a story through Bulk Operations on the test case list view.

Story Traceability provides traceability between requirement and its corresponding test cases.

 

Link Stories to a Single Test Case

The feature is helpful when you are working on one test case at a time and want to link stories to the current test case. It lets you map your test case with its relevant story/requirement in Jira.

Steps

1. Open test case detail page.

2. Open the Story tab.

3. Click on the Add Stories button.

 

The Add to Story screen opens with the list of stories that exist in the current project. The screen displays the records as per the Issue Type enabled for Story in QMetry Project Settings.

4. Select the stories and click Submit to add these stories to the test case.

You can also -

(A) select cross project stories. Open the project drop-down and select other project from which you want to add the stories.

(B) apply Basic filter to search stories (The Issue Type filter displays Issue Type in accordance with the Issue Type enabled for Story in QMetry Project Settings.)

(C) apply JQL to search stories

Link a Story to Multiple Test Cases in Bulk

You can add test cases of a particular folder to one of the existing stories. The feature is helpful to map multiple test cases with its relevant story/requirement in Jira. It requires when multiple test cases are created for a single story/requirement.

1. Select test cases which you want to add to the story exists in Jira. The count of selected test cases will be displayed adjacent the Bulk Operations drop-down menu.

Select All:

  • Current page: Clicking on the check box in the column header selects all the records on the current page only. An alternate way is to open the check box drop-down and select Current Page.

  • Across all pages: Open the check box drop-down and select Across All Pages option. Maximum 100 record can be selected.

2. Open the Bulk Operations drop-down menu and select Add to Story on it. The pop-up opens with the list of stories on it. You can search stories by their Key/Summary/Priority/Status.

3. Select the story to which the test cases are to be linked and click Submit.

You can also -

(A) select stories cross project stories. Open the project drop-down and select other project from which you want to add the stories.

(B) apply Basic filter to search stories (The Issue Type filter displays Issue Type in accordance with the Issue Type enabled for Story in QMetry Project Settings.)

(C) apply JQL to search stories

Test Case/Acceptance Criteria section in Jira

In Jira, the Story detail page displays the linked test cases under the Test Case/Acceptance Criteria section. The grid displays default columns of Test Case Summary, Version (linked version of the test case), test case Priority and its Execution Status. You can -

A. Search test case by its Key/Summary.

B. Hide/Show/Rearrange Columns. You can view the column on the grid accordingly.

C. Apply Filters to search test cases.

D. Add Test Case, Reuse Test Case, Unlink Test Case, Add to Test Cycle

Unlink Stories

You can unlink a single story or multiple stories linked to a test case.

A. Unlink stories in bulk at a time: Select stories that you want to unlink from the test case and click on the Unlink Stories button.

Requirement (Story) Traceability

You can trace the linkage of stories with a test case. You can view which Jira stories are linked to a test case.

Steps

1. Open the test case detail page in QMetry for Jira add-on.

2. Open the Story tab. It shows the list of stories to which the current test case is associated. You also select a particular test case version in the drop-down to see linkage with stories.
