Plan Test Case for Execution

Link Test Cases to a Test Cycle

Once test cases are created, it is required to add these test cases to a test cycle (i.e. test run) for execution. On the basis of the execution status, Test Reports are generated.

You can add test cases of a particular folder to one of the existing test cycles.

1. Select test cases which you want to link to the existing test cycle. The count of selected test cases will be displayed adjacent the Bulk Operations drop-down menu.

Select All:

  • Current Page: Clicking on the check box in the column header selects all the records on the current page only. An alternate way is to open the check box drop-down and select Current Page.

  • Across all Pages: Open the check box drop-down and select Across All Pages option. Maximum 100 records can be selected.

2. Open the Bulk Operations drop-down menu and select Add to Test Cycle on it. The pop-up opens with list of test cycles on it. You can search test cases by their Key/Summary.

3. Select the test cycle to which the test cases are to be linked and click Submit.

You can view the linked test cycle in the Executions tab of the test case.

Defect Traceability

If a defect is logged while executing a particular test case, then on the issue page in Jira you can view the test case for which the defect is logged. The Test Case section displays the following columns on it.

  • Test Case Summary: Test Case in which the defect is logged.

  • Priority: Priority of the test case.

  • Status: Workflow status of the test case.

  • Execution Status: Latest Execution Status of the test case.

  • Test Cycle Summary: Test Cycle associated with the test case.
