Email Notification

The project admin can enable/disable email notifications at the project level. The notifications are then triggered on the occurrence of the events for which the email notification is enabled.

The email notification action is kept configurable so that the project admin can turn the notifications off whenever required.

Note: Jira users possessing 'Administer Project' and 'Browse Projects' permissions for the project can access the settings page and configure Email Notification.

An email notification will be triggered when -

  • a user is assigned as Assignee either while creating or editing the test case/test cycle.

  • a user is assigned as an Execution Assignee for executing the test case.

  • the Status of a test case/test cycle is updated. The email notification will be sent to the Assignee and Reporter.

  • the Status of a test plan is updated. The email notification will be sent to the Reporter.

  • the Execution Result is changed. The email notification will be sent to the Execution Assignee.

  • the test assets are assigned in bulk or statuses are changed in bulk. A consolidated email notification will be sent on the bulk assignment or bulk status change.

  • the Assignee/Execution Assignee/Reporter is other than the logged-in user.

Email notifications are not sent when the logged-in user does assignments for themselves or when the logged-in user, who possesses the assignments, makes changes to their status.

Note: The email notification feature does not apply to the following functionalities:

  • Automation API

  • Import test cases

  • Export to other projects

  • Export to other instance
