How to Import Test Cases with Parameters

This article is intended for users who want to import parameterized steps while importing test cases via an Excel file. Follow the below steps:

Step 1: The syntax for mentioning parameterized step in the Excel file is [~Parameter_name]. For example, [~Username].

Step 2: Provide the custom parameter names in the Test case step details, for example, Test Step Summary, in your Excel file according to the above format.

Step 3: While importing the Excel file, ensure the Test Step fields are mapped with the respective columns from the selected Excel file.

  • If the mentioned parameters in Excel already exist in the Configuration section of the project, they will be automatically reused.

  • If the mentioned parameters in Excel do not exist in the Configuration section of the project, they will be created in the Configuration section as part of the Import. (User must have Configuration Modify permissions in order to create new parameters, or the imported parameters will be displayed as a normal text string)

Note: This feature is not applicable to shared test cases in the project.
