How to set Windows Environment before Windows application recording?

QMetry Automation Studio allows the users to record and create Test Cases through the Test Recorder on windows applications installed on the user’s machine. The prerequisites to record the Windows applications are Appium Server and Developer Mode enabled in the user’s machine.

Appium Server - Refer to this help guide to install and start the appium server.

Developer Mode - To enable the developer mode follow the steps below:

  • Go to Windows settings. Windows key → Settings.

  • Search for Developer Settings.

  • Enable the Developer mode in the Developer Settings.

Known issues: It can be possible that even after enabling Developer Mode, users are still getting error(below) when recording windows applications.

Solution: This issue occurs when the ‘Windows Application Driver’ folder is not automatically created inside the Program Files(x86) folder when the ‘Developer Mode’ is enabled. Users can download the folder from below and manually copy-paste it in the Program Files (x86) folder in their main drive.

After making the changes users have to restart QAS to reflect the changes.
