Upcoming v8.12.0 with Important Changes to Visual Reports showing issues linked to test cases

The QMetry release v8.12.0 scheduled on the January 7th, 2023 introduces several enhancements, one of which is to link issues directly to test cases. Earlier, testers could link issues with test cases only through the test execution screen. With the release 8.12.0, testers can link the issues to test cases directly from the Test Cases > Issues tab as well.

Currently, the Visual Reports display data of issues linked to test cases from the execution screen. After the v8.12.0 release on 7th January, testers can generate Visual Reports to show the issues directly linked to the test cases or through the execution screen.

The following changes are applicable if you've created the Visual Reports using fields only from the test case and issue module entities. Refer to the screenshot below

  1. If these visual reports are unchanged and not edited, they will continue to show the data of issues linked to test cases on executions as before.

  2. If you edit/update these Visual Reports in any manner, the issues displayed are those directly linked to test cases from the Test Cases > Issues tab. For displaying the issues linked from the test execution screen, additional fields like Release, and Cycle need to be introduced from Execution Entity.

  3. When the Visual Reports combine fields from Test Cases and Issue entities, the issues displayed are those directly linked to the test cases.

  4. When the Visual Reports combine fields from Test Cases, Issue, and Executions entities, the issues displayed are those linked to test cases from the execution screen.

These changes are not applicable for Visual Reports created using all three, the test case, issue, and test execution entities. Refer to the screenshot below
